ATIKOKAN HOSPITAL

The Atikokan General Hospital will soon be providing patients with better access to quality care thanks to more than $11 million in provincial funding for an expansion and renovation project.
The project will see a new addition built and renovations to the local hospital, which will provide four new acute care beds bringing the total to 15 beds and four more longĀterm care beds bringing the total to 26 beds. About 6,200 square feet of the existing facility will be renovated and about 8,900 square feet will be added as part of the addition. Construction is expected to be complete sometime during the winter of 2017.The results of this project will allow Atikokan to provide increased quality care to our patients and residents.
Given that the hospital had no prior building management system in place they chose to focus on energy efficiency, Great Northern Controls accepted the challenge of designing highly complex control sequences, ensuring very tight control and managing over 1,000 control points in total.
Some control items include:
  • Dual Fuel Boiler
  • Chiller
  • 9 VFD’s
  • AHU
  • ERV
  • Exhaust Fans
  • Isolation Room with Air Valve Control
  • Over 40 VAV Controllers
